Welcome to this week's edition of The Newy List!
Winter's arrived and Newcastle has responded the only sensible way, by cramming an extraordinary amount of things to do into a single long weekend. This week you've got the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow landing at the Civic, Helen Mirren playing the Queen at the Playhouse, and somewhere out in Merriwa, several hundred sheep being chased down a main street. If that's not enough, there's a ballroom dance spectacular, an international DJ taking over the Lass courtyard, and a First Nations art exhibition at the newly expanded Art Gallery that's genuinely worth your time. Read on for the full 20.
If the above pic got your interest of the old Stockton Ferry, Newcastle's been crossing this stretch of water for over a century. Marram has the story. Read here.
